Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a Welder who will primarily be responsible for safely performing weld buildup and cutting operations on rock crusher machines and sub-assemblies as part of an overall remanufacture process.
The position will report to the Manager, Manufacturing Operations.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants require a High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
- Possess work-related experience (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Complete task training on all overhead cranes, forklifts, sweepers, man lifts, scissor lifts, welders, and torches within 90 days of hire
- Develop operational equipment checks to catch failures before they arise
- Ensure completion of quality control documentation
- Excavate cracks, use dye penetrant, bevel and fill crack repair in steels
- Extend the total life expectancy of assets by learning PM procedures for all equipment utilized and remanufactured by the welding group
- Flexibility to work schedule with changing needs based on workload; will include some Fridays and weekends
- Influence others in the workgroup to remain on task and reduce socialization
- Load, unload, and program a stress-relief oven
- Maintain a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture
- Operate rosebuds, torches, and induction rope to preheat pieces to desired welding temperatures
- Perform cutting operations using oxyacetylene, oxyfuel, exothermic, carbon air arc, plasma cutters, grinders, and a CNC burn table.
- Perform weld build-up on crusher parts using manual, semi-automatic, and mechanized welding processes
- Report damaged tools and tag them out of service so that they can be replaced
- Use 5S methodology in conjunction with the floor sweeper to maintain a clean and safe workplace
- Use hydraulic rams to push and pull pieces in and out of place
- Use positioners and manipulators to maneuver large workpieces to be welded
- Use toolings such as an ironworker, horizontal and vertical bandsaws, magnetic drills, come-a-longs, chain-hoists, grinders, hammers, and wedges to accomplish assigned tasks
- Utilize welding processes such as FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW
- Weld on cast iron, manganese, and Cu-AL dissimilar
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- A strong mechanical background
- The ability to correctly measure parts with tape measures, pi tapes, and straight edges is necessary to perform the job functions
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. will be required
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, cold and wind, sometimes rain, will be required
- Basic computer skills with the ability to report and transfer information
- Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and a high level of accountability to operational requirements
