Job Profile
The company is seeking a Quality Control Leader who will be responsible for providing support to the quality field team to ensure the efficient and profitable execution of the installation of overhead and underground utility infrastructure.
The position will report to the Quality Manager.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Technical College Diploma or combination of technical training or related experience
Work Experience
- Possess an experience in the utility contracting industry in quality or construction (an asset)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze all quality documentation and submit to ATCO; QCRs, As-built drawings, Weld inspections, PDA test reports (this includes Aecon foundations documentation)
- Assist the Quality Manager with creating quality plans, manuals, and procedures
- Available to travel to or locate project assignments across Canada and beyond as required.
- Communicate effectively with the onsite construction management team to manage and optimize Quality and production activity schedules
- Complete required project field inspections
- Create NCRs and work with ATCO to resolve them
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
- Maintain document control system; including the revision control and distribution of contract documents, IFC drawings, and RFIs
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
- Provide a weekly quality report to the QA Manager, the Project Group, and the Client
- Receiving and submitting all RFI’s on ATCO SharePoint and communicating them to the internal project group
- Review the production board to ensure there aren’t any technology glitches, and communicate any issues to the QA Manager and Aecon One
- Review project details and ensure that the project quality plan aligns with client requirements
- When on a construction site, may be subject to extreme noise and heat. May be expected to climb ladders or wear fall protection depending on the job location.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to inspire and foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers.
- Ability to resolve project disputes with minimal assistance.
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Availability to collaboratively work within both an office and site environment.

- Highly proficient with MS Office suite – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Proven ability to take initiative and leadership
- Proven ability to utilize current technologies, i.e., computer skills
- Proven people and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals
- Sound computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project required.
- Strong communication, written, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
