Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Manufacturing Specialist who will be responsible for the support of the manufacturing process required to maintain the production of parts and for all manufacturing engineering aspects from the start of production through the life of the production part.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent (required) OR a minimum of 10 years of experience with Automated tooling/equipment

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing or other related fields

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to be creative to determine new processes and insure existing equipment is utilized.
  • Ability to be innovative in product design ideas and process ideas to support creating VA/VE ideas.
  • Ability to concept the design of tooling and work with design to complete the details of tooling changes.
  • The ability to design in CAD/fully detailed prints for the tool room would be a definite asset.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow up on every open issue to closure.
  • Complete payback analysis to determine optimal automation based on volume.
  • Creation of process flows and value-stream maps for the process to determine the optimal process.
  • Creation of standard work, operator instructions, PM plans, troubleshooting guides, and equipment instructions.
  • Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of all new product introductions and product enhancement programs using advanced engineering techniques.
  • Ensure that established OEE quality, availability, and performance standards are achieved with equipment launch
  • Evaluate and implement innovative, cost-effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems.
  • Experience in automated assembly, robotic Mig welding, Robotic spot welding, and Tube and wire forming would be a definite asset.
  • Implement error-proofing plans to ensure acceptable RPN rating in PFMEA
  • Machine troubleshooting, understanding of machine logic/robot programming, and tooling designs.
  • Support the manufacturing process in all aspects. (quoting, managing the build, troubleshooting equipment.)
  • Where an established OEE or safety standard is not being met, it is the Manufacturing Engineer’s responsibility to provide support in the identification of the root cause and assist in taking the appropriate action.
  • Work with the project Manager/quality and product engineering to insure the product is designed for Manufacturability.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to create PFMEA and error proofing for product and process.
  • Attention to detail is key.
  • Knowledge, tooling, and sensors for equipment selection/Troubleshooting would be an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to create and interpret complex blueprints with an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance is required.
  • The ability to troubleshoot equipment on the floor.
  • Understanding of wire forming, stamping process, metal forming, resistance, and Mig welding.
