Job Profile
The company is searching for an Additive Materials Engineer who will be responsible for the initial development and ongoing maintenance of laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) production processes.
Provide technical consultation and guidance to Emerson businesses regarding L-PBF-produced material and develop the roadmap for taking new materials to production.
Identify industry standards of strategic importance to the Emerson additive program and ensure appropriate representation.
Also, provide technical input into equipment selection and processing changes as the program matures and increases in scale.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants require a Degree in Materials Engineering with a metallurgical emphasis from a college/university
- A Master’s degree in a related field (preferred)
Work Experience
- Possess 2+ years of related experience (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct R&D experiments to characterize L-PBF production processes evaluating productivity, material quality, and dimensional characteristics.
- Contribute to and interpret industry standards, assessment of materials applications, weld procedure qualification, and standardization of materials.
- Develop documentation and support for ASTM material standards and other industry code and standards requirements.
- Provide support in the following areas: failure analysis, supplier qualification, materials documentation/organization, and developing and maintaining internal standards and practices.
- Provide technical leadership in the identification, development, application, and qualification of metallic materials for application to products in the Emerson portfolio.
- Represent Emerson as L-PBF material Subject Matter Expert in discussions with customer technical personnel.
- Support production location to ensure material quality performance.
