Job Profile
The company is searching for an Aerospace Structural Welder who will perform fusion welding on aircraft and ground support equipment to a qualified Welding Procedures Specification (WPS), performs structural fusion welding on aerospace parts and components per the requirements of specifications as prescribed by Engineering Drawings and Work Orders.

- Must possess own shadowed/etched Tools and Toolbox.
- Able to weld a variety of materials such as aluminum, magnesium, alloyed and low alloy steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloy steels.
License/Certification
- Must be able to provide welding certifications or logs.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Read and understand engineering drawings and welding symbols, fabricate and manufacture-welded parts from engineering drawings without direct supervision, perform fusion welding and torch brazing for ground support equipment, ensuring the procedure is completed per the requirements of the national welding and brazing codes and specifications.
- Welds a wide variety of materials such as aluminum, magnesium, alloyed and low alloy steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloy steels.
- Required to know the materials to select the correct filler materials and shielding gas when generating the Weld Procedure Specification (WPS), and produce flight-critical welds, and assist in the development process of generating Weld Procedure Specifications as mandated by welding codes and specifications.
- Determines the sequence of welding to prevent or reduce the amount of warp to the weld, designs and fabricates weld holding fixtures as necessary to perform individual welding projects, performs pre-heat and post-weld stress relief operations, and maintains weld records.
- May perform duties as a Qualified Weld Inspector by inspecting own welds and those of less qualified welders, and may perform duties such as training and re-certification in the various welding processes.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of new parts, and the nature and extent of repair required.
- Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, and scales, and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.
- Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures is required to perform the job assignment.
- Must have skills in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
- Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified, and capable of troubleshooting the entire aircraft system.
- Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work tasks.
Work Environment
- Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
- May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts.
- May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
- May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
- Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.
- Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
