Job Profile
The company is looking for a Body Shop Technician who will repair vehicles, parts, and components that are non-conforming to customer specifications by welding, grinding, or other methods as required to repair non-conformances, including dent repair.
Education Level
- High School Graduate or equivalent
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
License/Certification
- Certified in Mig or Tig welding
Duties/Responsibilities
- Adhere to and maintain safety standards
- Body repair, including damage assessment, structural repair, and dent repair
- Calibrate welding equipment
- Collect/record defect data and share/report findings with the Production/Quality/Leadership Teams to continually improve processes
- Conduct housekeeping for personal work area or shared facility space
- Maintain tools in good working order
- Maintain welding equipment
- Mechanical fastener repair
- Move parts to the correct location in the plant/facility
- Operate a Mig-welding machine to join or repair sheet metal/steel parts or components
- Operate hand tools (hammers, pliers, wrenches)
- Operate power tools (grinders, sanders, plasma cutters)
- Participate in preventative actions where appropriate
- Participate in root cause problem-solving activities
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
- Remove and replace fastened panels on vehicles
- Rework the sheet metal on the bodies
- Tag parts
- Understand customer requirements and adhere to the Quality Operating System standards
- Utilization of plexus (ERP system)

- Work when scheduled and ensure coverage when absent
- Moves within own or other work areas (flexes) to support plant flow. Works with a sense of urgency to meet customers’ needs.
- Proficiency in metalworking and repair techniques
- Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening, staying focused on the issue to find a resolution, and monitoring progress. Maintains positive relationships by constructively resolving conflicts.
- Understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper ventilation, and following fire safety protocols, including removing flammable materials and ensuring a clear work area
- Updates and relays pertinent information to the shift supervisor and the oncoming shift
- Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships
Work Environment
- Exposure to paint, dust, and fumes
- Must follow strict safety procedures
- Often stands for long periods
- Uses power tools and heavy equipment
- Works in garages or repair shops
