Job Profile

The company is hiring a CNC Machinist who will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce precision metal and plastic parts.

Read and interpret technical drawings, perform quality inspections, and ensure components meet exact specifications. The responsibilities include machine setup, tool changes, troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

  • 3 years of experience as a CNC Machinist
  • Experience with measuring instruments such as calipers, indicators, micrometers, etc.

License/Certification

  • Driver’s License

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Simultaneously set up and operate CNC and manual machines to manufacture precision components following engineering or Operations specifications
  • Utilize CNC controls, computer systems, and CAM software, including the ability to edit code or programs as necessary to optimize machining performance.
  • Perform deburring and finishing operations using hand tools and power tools to ensure clean, functional parts.
  • Interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) blueprints and technical drawings to determine tooling, setup, and machining requirements.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and smart scopes to ensure part conformity.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by consistently following all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to ensure continued production flow and part accuracy.
  • Meet or exceed standard production times to support operational efficiency and output targets.
  • Support secondary machining functions, including drilling, countersinking, tapping, and extraction of broken taps or drills.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, offering support and knowledge-sharing to promote a cohesive and productive work environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support overall shop floor operations.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read GD&T blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Ability to work with both metric and imperial measurements.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam software, with the ability to program
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes.

Work Environment

  • Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: hand tools, drills, grinders, lathe, horizontal mill, digital multi-meter, ohm meter, and material handling equipment, including forklift

Physical Demands

  • Constantly (67% – 100%) be required to twist/turn, stand, walk, and grasp, and frequently (34% – 66%) be required to bend/squat, crawl, handle, and manipulate small items.
  • Occasionally (1% – 33%), be required to climb, reach above shoulder, reach outward, sit, and type.
  • Must carry up to 50+ pounds constantly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and use safe lifting methods to move 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Must push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
  • Manual dexterity; arm-hand steadiness; ability to quickly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine; finger dexterity; multi-limb coordination; flexibility; quick reaction time.
