Job Profile

The company is looking for a CNC Machinist who will support the Engineering Model Shop.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma (required)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years of machining experience or educated through an apprenticeship program, trade school, or vocational program.
  • Extensive experience in both manual and CNC machining

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to get along with others in a large, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to make parts from analyzing drawings, sketches, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
  • Assignments may be broad, requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Knowledge of materials – general characteristics, machinability, heat-treating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace.
  • Make recommendations for design enhancements or improvements to support design for manufacturability optimization.
  • May be assisted by engineering personnel in developing unique parts/fixtures.
  • Operate with latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions.
  • Other duties not listed above to support departmental or corporate goals.
  • Perform machining of engineering prototypes to support development programs.
  • Regular attendance
  • Responsible for machine shop tooling maintenance regularly.
  • Responsible for managing priorities and work schedule to support project timelines.
  • Responsible for ordering and managing raw materials to support model shop requirements.
  • Reviews progress with management.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, etc.
  • Support manufacturing, as required, for fixtures, tooling, or small quantity parts.
  • Utilize EZ Trak on the Bridgeport milling machine.
  • Utilize Haas CNC Lathe and Mill, writing G-code and using IPS.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precise measuring equipment. (comparator, calipers, micrometers)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and Team Center
  • Deep understanding of machining processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to program CNC machines efficiently.
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, layout techniques, and familiarity with machining various materials.

Work Environment

  • Exposed to loud noise, metal shavings, and coolants
  • Must wear safety gear and follow strict safety procedures
  • Often works in shifts, including nights or weekends
  • Stands for long periods, operating precision machinery
  • Works in machine shops or manufacturing facilities
