Job Profile

The company is seeking a Fabricator to join its team.

  • Make mathematical calculations when preparing products or setting up the machinery.
  • Must be able to work with other employees to complete the job.
  • Set up, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
  • Must maintain a safe and productive work environment, producing a quality product that is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the customer’s needs.
  • Directly impacts safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for own work.
  • Reports to the Shift Lead.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Work Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of machine shop experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Be able to identify by sight and give the proper description of the component items used or manufactured.
  • Be able to read, understand, and manufacture parts under the production drawings provided.
  • Be able to properly set up, operate, and perform routine operator maintenance on special jigs provided for the manufacture of parts.
  • Be able to safely and skillfully set up, operate, and perform routine operator maintenance on the following-
  • Milling Machine
  • Drill Press
  • Hand hole Drilling and Tapping Machine
  • Vertical Band Saw
  • Horizontal Band Saw
  • Back Stand Grinder
  • Tube Bender
  • 2-3/8″ Diameter Tube Deburrer
  • 2-3/8″ Diameter Tube Notcher
  • Tapping Gun
  • Be able to properly inventory processed parts used or manufactured.
  • Be able to use and properly care for the following-
  • Veneer Caliper
  • Ball Micrometer
  • Pitch Micrometer
  • PI Tape
  • Tape Measure
  • Combination Square
  • Level
  • Bullhorn Arm Go-No go Gauge.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in the operation of forklifts.
  • Ability to use a tape measure.
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
  • Operation of CNC Equipment is not required but preferred.
  • Read blueprints.
  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with the most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.

High-ended Qualifications-

  • Be knowledgeable in the use of general safety equipment and specific safety equipment relating to machine shop and anchor bolt operations
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Must have a high awareness of safety at all times.
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • 3 to 5 years of previous experience in a machine shop.

Educational Background

  • Able to do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fraction conversion)
  • Able to read and comprehend routings and blueprints
  • Able to use a tape measure
  • Able to use a computer to enter production dates, perform timekeeping functions, interface with machines and other equipment
