Duties/Responsibilities
- Detect and report faulty equipment, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervision. Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain the work area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Perform duties involving routine preparation, grinding, final buffing, and polishing on a variety of parts, castings, kettle weldment components, etc., for required finishes. Must be able to perform these duties on a variety of kettle weldments for ASME and non-ASME products.
- Work from written and verbal instructions, and standard procedures. Operate grinding machinery, hand tools, etc., to obtain even, smooth welds, and remove surface scales, deburr parts, and other surplus materials. Select wheels, speeds, and feeds for varying materials and finish requirements. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials. Complete records as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Application of ordinary arithmetic (required)
- Ability to use manual and pneumatic tools (required)
- Use of hand-grinding tools
