Job Profile
The company is seeking a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker who will build, fabricate, and repair tooling, fixtures, and other components as necessary to ensure the support of plant production.
Also, responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from 4-year college or university
- 4-year apprentice trade certificate in tool making
Work Experience
- Possess 1 to 2 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to read blueprints and preferred CAD experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Basic Formability training and circle grid analysis
- Class A experience
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices
- Modifies dies and tooling to conform to engineering changes
- Operate overhead cranes
- Operates a variety of small machines, tools, and equipment
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on all tooling and is familiar with SAP for work orders
- Services, maintains, and tests new or changed dies
- Strong communications skills
- Tandem, Progressive, Blanking, and Transfer Die experience
- Troubleshoots for problems during production
- Tryout and launch of new die-sets and tooling
- Verifies conformance of machined or repaired dies to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances, and alignments
- Welding experience
- Perform other duties as required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Communication Skills-
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills-
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability-
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Be competent to perform job functions based on appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
- Detailed training and competency requirements are defined in the specific Training and Competency Matrix for each functional area.
- Competency evaluation is through various sources including, but not limited to, process performance, performance appraisal, and competency testing, as appropriate.
Work Environment
Manufacturing Environment-
- 80% standing and walking
- 20% stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing
- Must be able to lift heavy loads (50 lbs.)
