Job Profile

The company is looking for a Jr. Rolling Mill Setup Operator to join its team.

Educational Qualification

  • No education level is mentioned, yet having a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Must have experience in starting and shutting down all equipment necessary to run appropriate rolling mill
  • A Crane certificate would be an asset. If a candidate does not have a certificate, training will be provided

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to butt weld ends of the coil together to form continuous feed or feed by hand
  • Ability to monitor oils and fluids levels
  • Ability to operate safely 10 to 40-ton cranes with appropriate sling or chain
  • Assist in the development of standardization charts for changeovers
  • Assist in tool organization change over the cart
  • Good organizational skills, ability to work well without supervision
  • Knowledge of WHMIS/GHS
  • Must be able to communicate issues/problems to the area leader or work cell leader
  • Must be organized and clean up the area and equipment at the end of the shift
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools and be able to make minor adjustments to the operation
  • Must have knowledge of First and Last Off Procedures
  • Must have knowledge of setting roll tools and achieve section (training will be provided as needed)
  • Required to contribute to regular production when there are no changeovers
  • Responsible at the end of a run for cleaning of rolling mill, removal of rolls, cleaning of them, and storing them at the appropriate place
  • Responsible for part quality
  • Any other reasonable request by management

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Basic Mathematical skills
  • Good English (both written and verbal) communication skills
  • Knowledge in rolling mill induction welding (training will be provided as needed)
  • Must be able to work overtime when required and willing to help out when necessary as per customer demands
  • Must have knowledge of all Inspection Records, SPC Charts, and checking fixtures
  • Must have knowledge of measuring equipment, such as vernier and other gauges
  • Must have knowledge of rolling mill controls and tooling protection or other pieces of equipment to operate rolling mill
  • Must have knowledge of how to inspect the rolling mill at the beginning of the shift and to ensure that at all times prior to operation, the safety checklist is followed, completed, and recorded

Credible Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to follow written set-up instructions and fill out appropriate papers
  • Valid forklift license and ability to operate 6000 lbs. to 12000 lbs. lift trucks. If a candidate does not have a license, training will be provided
