Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a Laser Applications Specialist who will be responsible for completing the setup and installation of robots from a single robot to multiple robot cells.
Successful candidates will possess programming capability, as well as demonstrated experience with good troubleshooting and startup support.
Promoting good communication within the robotic department as well as other departments to ensure a quality product is essential.
Robot programmers will ensure all equipment is in working order and will assist and train other robot techs as required.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a University Degree or College Diploma in Physics or Photonics Engineering, Welding, or an equivalent combination of formal education and practical experience
- Laser Safety Officer Certified (preferred) or be qualified and prepared to take the LIA LSO with Hazard Analysis course.
Work Experience
- Possess knowledge and experience with lasers or thermal welding or cutting processes.
- Experience with multi-kilowatt laser welding or cutting systems is desired, along with knowledge of inspection and cleaning methods for high-power optics.
- Practical experience with lasers, optics, optical systems, and fiber optics is highly desirable.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assemble and prepare all required laser system documentation for your projects.
- Ensuring all operator safety devices function properly on completion of installation or repair.
- Support the sale department on initial concepts and equipment required for the new products.
- Take projects from concept and design, through manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning at Massiv, to customer buy-off and re-assemble and commission at the customer site.
- Train and work with other team members to enhance skill level(s)
- Work closely with Robotics and Controls department leads on continuous improvement; in order to maintain a competitive edge in the automotive industry
- Work with the Project Team and design laser systems that meet all requirements for safety, throughput, and product quality.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- An ability to see the big picture (the whole project or program) and the ability to focus on details when needed.
- Basic knowledge of the mechanical and electrical design of automated industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team. You will be embedded in a team that consists of mechanical and controls designers, robot programmers, and project management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of industrial robots (Preferably Fanuc)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD, and Catia.
Working Conditions
- Continuous travel (required)
- Overtime hours will be required
- Shop floor environment
