Job Profile
The company is hiring a Laser Tracker Operator who will be responsible for the measurement and qualification of flight articles, tooling, and movement in the factory.
Work with Numerical Control (NC) programmers and machinists on compensation for hardware to meet drawing specifications.
Supports all areas throughout the factory that require the ability to develop measurement plans as the area customer presents an issue or requirement.
Work with production as well as the critical lift and move team for placement of hardware and tooling to support critical mating operations.
Education Level
- High School Diploma (credible)
Work Experience
- 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in analyzing data and generating data reports
- Experience with Leica laser trackers
- Experience with Spatial Analyzer Software
- Ability to find solutions to problems through diverse thinking while utilizing a varied experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to learn about and utilize laser trackers, laser radars, photogrammetry systems, and other portable coordinate metrology equipment.
- Ability to understand 3D metrology datasets, their measurement uncertainty, and identify trends in the collected data.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of the team as situations require.
- Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to understand relationships between parts and derive tolerances to validate through measured data.
- Assists in numerous tasks related to metrology measurements and analysis, including research and data collection to support cross-functional teams and production, establishing technical requirements for metrology measurements, and planning the integration of new metrology techniques and measurement methods, processes, software, and equipment.
- Collaborate and work productively with a variety of internal customers to understand their needs and constraints.
- Collect geometric data via a laser tracker through model-based software such as Spatial Analyzer.
- Discern how best to establish a reference system for the current task, then apply it and install it both on and off the part.
- Effectively communicate with fabricators, machinists, assemblers, engineers, and other parties as required.
- Experience using Spatial Analyzer for metrology data analysis.
- Follow shop 5S and housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and organized desk area and production environment.
- Integrate process monitoring with the fabrication process to locate both welding details and machining details.
- Produces accurate and repeatable measurements of production vehicles, parts, and tools per the supplied documentation.
- Provide analysis of collected data and evaluate it to provide direction for remaining operations.
- Understand and apply the fabrication process and environmental effects on large structures, such as free states, temperature swings, and weld shrinkage.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to adapt to an extremely dynamic work environment while maintaining a positive attitude
- Ability to read blueprints with an understanding of Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Ability to use and learn a variety of software to observe, analyze, evaluate, and communicate pertinent information
- Ability to visualize 3D space and integrate complex geometries into both large and small fabrications
- Ability to work on your own with minimal supervision
- Solid understanding of geometric relationships
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Understanding of the manufacturing process of large structures from concept to completion
