Job Profile

The company is hiring a Laser Welding Operator who will run the laser welder effectively and efficiently continuously, and can identify problems during the production run, position work pieces, and inspect parts daily using various types of inspection equipment.

Performs required operations on the laser welder, including loading and unloading of parts, part inspection, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance and minor adjustments of assigned equipment;

Prepares various logs and records to document laser welder operation and daily production, and enters required data into the computer.

Moves/transports parts to the appropriate location as needed;

Maintains safe, clean, and orderly work areas;

Receives, reviews, or refers to various records or reports, including travelers, shift reports, SOP, safety sheets, etc.;

Prepares labor sheets and non-conformance forms;

Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, including the immediate supervisor, co-workers, and other shop personnel;

Operates laser welder, micrometers, gauges, various power tools, computer, etc.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or equivalent documentation (required)

Work Experience

• CNC experience (a plus)
• Adhere to AS9100 and other quality standards

Duties/Responsibilities

• Function effectively within a team environment
• Keep track of all scrap and seek corrective action when necessary
• Keep track of materials in the area
• Maintain all inspection gauges and tooling as required
• Maintain an excellent attendance record
• Minor maintenance of the laser welder
• Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
• Perform or contribute to development efforts, independently or with directions
• Produce tasks efficiently and within standard time allotment
• Set up and switch jobs as required
• Verify all parts are conforming before signing off on the traveler

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of disciplines in a dynamic environment and motivate them to work together as a team
• Be able to write and document information clearly
• Computer and Microsoft Office literate (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
• Must be a US Person (US Citizen or permanent resident – green card holder)
• Must be able to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Must be able to read simple part drawings
• Must be able to run parts to spec daily
• Must be able to use and read micrometers and dial calipers accurately
• Must have an understanding of the machining process
• Perform any other task management deems necessary or needed by the company
• Self-driven, adaptable, and resourceful; able to work under limited supervision

Work Environment

• The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring safety precautions typical of a work office and manufacturing environment.
• Personal protective equipment is provided and is to be used in designated areas.
• The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Physical Demands

• Ability to use both hands to operate the machinery
• Work involves conditions and elements that must be identified and analyzed to determine interrelationships with specs of the specific product.
• Work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, lifting of moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), and reaching.
