The company is seeking a Machinist to join its team.

Educational Qualification

Work Experience

  • Must have completed a recognized Machinist apprenticeship OR
  • At least 8 years of experience as a maintenance Machinist OR
  • Completed 2 years of post-secondary vocational school, and 4 years of relevant on-the-job experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Function-

  • To lay out work, set up and operate all machine tools such as lathe, planer, shaper, milling machine, and drill press.
  • Dismantle, fit, and assemble parts in maintaining mill equipment.

Working Procedures-

  • Assembles, fits, and aligns machinery and equipment.
  • Calculates and determines some dimensions; a majority of dimensions and details are shown on drawings.
  • Dismantles machinery and equipment.
  • Interprets drawings and sketches.
  • Performs layout work.
  • Receive instructions, prints, and work orders.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools.
  • Works in shop or field as required.

Materials 

  • Ferrous, non-ferrous, and non-metallic materials, cutting oils, and grinding compounds.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing atmosphere safely and follow safety practices and regulations;
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift in a 24/7 operation and overtime including weekends and holidays;
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. as needed;
  • Must be able to legally operate company motor vehicles and mobile equipment;
  • Must have strong math skills including reading fractions and decimals;
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills;
  • Basic welding and flame-cutting experience with a basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Requires an individual to stand, climb, work at heights, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time.
  • PPE includes FR9 clothing, safety glasses, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots with metatarsal protection, hearing protection, and other safety equipment as required.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass a background test, physical and drug screen.
