Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Machinist/Maintenance Technician who will set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have an Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree in a related field duly completed from a college or university
- Journeyman machinist-level skills
Work Experience
- Possess 5 years of experience as a machinist
- Experience with CNC programming
- Experience with manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders
Duties/Responsibilities
- AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks experience.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Develops specifications from a general description and draw a sketch of the part or product to be fabricated.
- Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests the operation of the unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Measures, marks, and scribe’s dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC Mills and Lathes.
- Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Set up and operate Manual Mills and Laths.
- Setup and operate surface grinders
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Able to proficiently use micrometers, depth mics, calipers, and other measuring devices
- Proficient in geometry
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
- Must occasionally lift or move 50 pounds or more.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
