The company is hiring a Maintenance Lead to join its team.
Education Level
- Associate’s Degree in industrial maintenance, engineering, or equivalent.
Work Experience
- 6 to 9 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ability to coordinate maintenance activities with other departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Assist Supervisor with ordering and tracking spare parts and working with MRO as needed
- Assist the Supervisor in coordinating the maintenance employees to complete repairs and special projects to meet goals within the department and the site
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
- Be responsible for the maintenance of the facility, housekeeping, and equipment during the shift
- Coach and motivate the crew to perform at their highest level
- Complete diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspecting, precise measuring, repair, and re-assembly of plant equipment or components
- Create corrective work orders, release PM work orders, and ensure on-time completion
- Ensure employee engagement and morale within the department, informing the supervisor or HR department of any causes for immediate or major concern
- Ensure that maintenance mechanics are following the LOTO provisions of the hazardous energy control program
- Establish and enforce quality expectations to meet or exceed the customers’ expectations
- Help introduce and drive Lean techniques and methodologies
- Manage activities related to daily maintenance scheduling to complete all breakdown repairs on time
- Must be able to perform all job activities related to the employee’s current maintenance classification at a high level
- Perform new installations of equipment, including high and low voltage systems and major repairs and replacements
- Performs maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
- Performs strategic preventative maintenance; and continuous improvement of maintenance systems and practices.
- Promote, institute, and maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work environment
- Proper installation of equipment ensuring that necessary safety standards are adhered to.
- Respond to on-duty emergency requests and after-hours call-ins.
- Responsible for enforcement of all Valmont policies and procedures within the department
- Responsible for making sure that all maintenance employees are using and wearing all required PPE for their specific duties
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities including hydraulic machines, presses, shears, cranes, welders, mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
- Responsible for reporting all injuries that transpire on the shift to the Supervisor and the EHS Manager as soon as possible
- Responsible for the repair of worn parts, straightening, and fabricating fixtures. Makes new installation of equipment and performs major repairs/replacements.
- Review projects and work assignments for potential hazards and recommend the safest ways to complete the job
- Seek opportunities for efficiencies and improvements within the maintenance department.
- Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g., off-shifts, holidays, weekends, etc.) as required/assigned).
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
- Understand and drive cost-reduction efforts within the department and the site
- Understand the goals for their respective department and drive the team to meet or surpass those goals
- Use troubleshooting aids, such as volt, ohm, and amp meters, meggers, anemometers, tachometers, and any other tool used to diagnose equipment to interpret readings
- Perform pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical electronic troubleshooting and repair plant production equipment
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in the operation of forklifts.
- Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook or similar email software.
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
- Must be available for on-call rotation.
- Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
- Requires working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, or electrical applications.
- The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
- The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
High-ended Qualifications-
- 10+ years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Experience in three or more areas – CNC, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, metalworking.
- Experience performing all position arc and wire feed welding on steel and aluminum.
- Experience with mills/lathes.
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, water, and natural gas plumbing.
- Must have a high awareness of safety at all times.
- Previous experience leading/supervising people in a maintenance role.
- Technical training in industrial machine types
- 3 or more years of machine mechanical/electronics experience.
- Working knowledge of single and three-phase electrical circuitry with an ability to read electrical schematics.
