Job Profile

The company is searching for a Maintenance Welder who will perform maintenance and repair work on Company equipment (as allowed, unless repairs are to be made by a code shop per ASME or DOT rules and regulations).

Perform fabrications either major or minor, and perform tasks using cutting or heating gear as may be required by his supervisor.

May also perform pipeline welding as operations dictate if certified (in compliance with API 1104 standards).

Educational Qualification

• Applicants may be required a High School Diploma
• Trade School Welding Certification (preferred)

Work Experience

• Possess work-related experience (preferred)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Adheres to Company policies and work requirements
• Ensures all supplies required to complete the job are available including but not limited to the following equipment: wrap-around, contour marker, center finder, chalk line, framing square, chipping hammer, wire brush, striker, cutting goggles, welding shield, and leather gloves.
• Maintains confidence; knowledge of information gained in the performance of these job duties and responsibilities.
• Performs assigned duties and provides general labor during rig-up or rig-down, on rig structures, cranes, or rig components as needed to complete the tasks assigned.
• Performs maintenance and conducts minor repairs on all welding units and equipment.
• Performs the primary thinking called for and encompassed by the overall Position Definition.
• Performs welding and cutting (burning) as required by operations, either above or on the ground with all necessary safety precautions and permits where applicable.
• Utilizes industry best practices to complete repair and fabrications required in a timely and cost-efficient manner, while maintaining the highest degree of safety standards.
• Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they are able to understand verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English; and the ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication) to make job-related calculations.
• Proficient in storage and the accurate/safe use of trade tools such as compressed gas cylinders, hoses/cords, cutting torch, various cutting tips, appropriate rods/wire, welding machine, the amperage required as determined by the material to be welded, grinding equipment, chippers, and various measurement tools.
• Proficient with an interpretation of blueprints to fabricate required modifications with little or no supervision.

Work Environment

• Heavy Work- Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
• Requires standing, walking, and sitting while working either indoors or outdoors.
• While performing the job, will be required to lift/carry, pull/push, reach, squat, kneel, and or climb ladders or stairs.
• Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions. This may include chemicals, gases, cold/heat, noise, dampness, dust, fumes, radiation, and heights. Exposure to the above conditions should be handled as prescribed in the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and/or the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Other Requirements

• Motor vehicle record qualifies an individual to be an approved company driver.
• Pass the company’s “Physical Functions Assessment”
• Pass the company’s drug screen
