Job Profile

The company is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer (Design) who will be responsible, for the design of mechanical systems or components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems.

Educational Qualification

  • Be a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering)

Work Experience

  • Possess 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the design/building of custom equipment typically: robotics, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience working within 3D CAD systems
  • Extensive experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change control processes.

Preferred Ones

  • Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
  • Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors
  • Experience with designing ruggedized tooling for harsh environments
  • Experience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor, and ANSYS(FEA)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborating globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists
  • Driving innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
  • Performing both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standards
  • Preparing clear and concise design reports and technical specifications.
  • Providing input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
  • Providing technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team
  • Reviewing, approving, and sealing design reports, technical documentation, and drawings
  • Supporting resolution of issues throughout the design, manufacture, and testing of systems or components

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and experience working effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations-002E
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications, and associated inspection techniques.
