Job Profile
The company is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer who will work collaboratively with the Fabrication Shop.
Education Level
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
Work Experience
- 2+ years of experience in the lumber industry or machine design
- Experience with SolidWorks or 3D modeling software
Duties/Responsibilities
- Actively plan and oversee equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups
- Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment
- Contribute creative solutions in an innovative team environment
- Deliver completed projects that consider the complete application and needs of operations
- Design lumber manufacturing equipment for both new installations and rebuilds
- Develop and improve lumber processing equipment designs
- Effectively utilize 3D modeling software to create designs and drawings
- Manage multiple projects at many different stages, big and small
- Provide direction to assemblers and machinists
- Through research and coordination, establish design concepts relative to the development of new equipment
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Machine center alignment and installation experience (helpful)
- Possess strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining (preferred)
Work Environment
- Collaborates with teams and clients
- May face tight deadlines and long hours
- Uses computers and design software
- Wears safety gear on-site
- Works in offices, labs, and factories
