Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer who will work collaboratively with the Fabrication Shop.

Education Level

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience

Work Experience

• 2+ years of experience in the lumber industry or machine design
• Experience with SolidWorks or 3D modeling software

Duties/Responsibilities

• Actively plan and oversee equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups
• Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment
• Contribute creative solutions in an innovative team environment
• Deliver completed projects that consider the complete application and needs of operations
• Design lumber manufacturing equipment for both new installations and rebuilds
• Develop and improve lumber processing equipment designs
• Effectively utilize 3D modeling software to create designs and drawings
• Manage multiple projects at many different stages, big and small
• Provide direction to assemblers and machinists
• Through research and coordination, establish design concepts relative to the development of new equipment

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Machine center alignment and installation experience (helpful)
• Possess strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining (preferred)

Work Environment

• Collaborates with teams and clients
• May face tight deadlines and long hours
• Uses computers and design software
• Wears safety gear on-site
• Works in offices, labs, and factories
