Job Profile

The company is hiring a Midsize Utility Person who will perform all production phases and is responsible for filling in for the shift lead person during their absence.

Performs duties associated with the assigned shift, and assists the Shift Supervisor in ensuring employees have the tools and material they need to provide inspection and high-quality Valmont products.

Education Level

• Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred)

Work Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of welding or machine operation experience
• Previous robotic welding experience
• Demonstrated experience in a Utility role at Valmont
• Experience with the Midsize department or similar manufacturing machinery
• Practical hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing

Duties/Responsibilities

• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane
• Ability to operate an overhead crane
• Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the position
• Act as backup for the shift lead and area employees when needed
• Assist with the training of others and complete appropriate paperwork
• Collaborate with department leadership to achieve continuous improvement and department goals
• Maintain a productive working environment to manufacture high-quality Valmont products in a safe and efficient manner
• Makes, through proper training, program changes to robotic welders and understands the nuances of an automated welding system.
• Provide feedback and input to the Supervisor about team performance
• The ability to operate at least 2 manufacturing equipment such as trap shear, profiler, sub welder, brake press, and cut-to-length equipment, plus the ability to adjust and operate robotic welders.

• Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to use considerable judgment to work independently towards team and department goals
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

Required Qualifications

• Ability to learn all Midsize functions and operate at least 2 pieces of equipment, plus the ability to adjust and operate robotic welders
• Currently Welder C status or higher
• Knowledge of and ability to use common shop mathematics, in feet, inches, degrees, and fractions, in reading complex prints, and standard specifications.
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
• The ability to pass a forklift driver’s test
• The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, and blueprints
• The ability to use a tape measure
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
