Job Profile

The company is seeking a Non-Destructive Test Engineer who will be required to provide In-depth Supplier Assessment (ISA) support, problem resolution, NDT technical dispositions, and general project management for the NDTE Supplier Support group.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor of Science Degree or Higher in Engineering from a college/university

Work Experience

  • Possess 4+ years of relative experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with NDT Examiners to provide technical guidance, expertise, and problem resolution for suppliers.
  • Develop working level understanding with NDT and Welding specifications such as T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, S9074-AR-GIB-010A/278, S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, T9074-AD-GIB-010/1688, MIL-STD-2035, etc.
  • Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of NDT
  • Provide technical guidance to adjudicate NDT-related findings and problem resolution/bounding investigations with suppliers.
  • Support liabilities discovered during In-depth Supplier Assessments, continuously interface and work with suppliers, NDT Examiner Staff, Cognizant Engineering, Supplier Quality, SUPSHIP and NAVSEA
  • Travel for this position is expected to be 20% or less.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an industrial welding environment, shipbuilding, or other heavy fabrication
  • Experience understanding principles of NDT methods and applications to ensure acceptable weld and base metal performance for submarine construction
  • Experience with basic welding and NDT processes
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA specifications (T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 and NAVSEA 250-1500-1)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Advanced computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint (or equivalent)
  • Review and disposition of technical documents (CN, CR, ER, VIR, Letters to the Government, etc.)
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Strong technical writing abilities
