Job Profile

The company is hiring a Plant Operator who will perform a combination of duties involving general plant maintenance and operation of mobile equipment. This includes properly loading Ready Mix trucks and interacting with Ready Mix drivers and plant personnel.

Responsible for operating equipment commonly found necessary for the proper maintenance of a ready-mix plant. Equipment operated will include a loader, water truck, man lift, forklift, etc.

Education Level

• High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience

• Experience in metal cutting and fabrication, and the ability to perform general maintenance on pumps and plant equipment
• Experience operating equipment outside in all weather conditions
• Experience operating loaders, man lifts, and forklifts
• Experience with maintenance, operations, loaders, and forklifts

Duties/Responsibilities

• Batch quality concrete within specifications, bringing any significant variances in the batching to the attention of the Plant Superintendent
• Completes daily service requirements of the plant; helps inspect the plant for preventative maintenance issues
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and work rules, as well as federal safety, health, and environmental regulations
• Demonstrate safe and efficient operation of equipment while completing assigned tasks
• Effectively communicates with customers and other departments of the company
• Loads ready mix trucks with concrete and guides drivers through the plant
• Maintains inventory of raw materials, parts, and tools
• Monitors KPIs for dispatch
• Operate a range of loaders, including skip loader, front loader, man lift, and forklift
• Operates front-end loaders and forklifts
• Perform plant maintenance activities as directed
• Perform pre-operational/post-operational checks of equipment to ensure equipment can be operated safely
• Perform work area examinations to ensure a safe work environment; any observed hazards must be noted, reported to the supervisor, and corrected if possible
• Performs general maintenance of water pumps, conveyor belts, and other plant equipment
• Some weekend and night work will be required
• Stays well-informed on Quality Control demands on concrete
• Support other plant activities as directed
• Troubleshoots and resolves maintenance problems to ensure efficient operations
• Work may extend to include general labor duties such as shoveling and sweeping

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
• Able to work in various extreme weather conditions
• Intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of pH, TSS, TDS, and Turbidity limits to meet the Department of Ecology standards
• Knowledgeable in MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations
• Knowledgeable in the operation and equipment used in a ready-mix plant
• May be required to work varying start/stop times and extended hours
• Must provide basic tools such as wrenches, hammers, welding hood, and gloves
• Versed in Batch Panel software

Work Environment

• Physical requirements: able to lift/move up to 100 lbs., climb up to 24 feet, walk, bend, and crouch
