Job Profile
The company is seeking a Principal Engineer to join its team.
Educational Qualification
- Licensed Principal Engineer (P.Eng.) or Member of Professional Engineers Ontario with a degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Mechatronics, Nuclear Engineering, or Applied Science
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in the substantiation of custom, first-of-a-kind design within the scope of your practice.
- Experience interfacing with customer representatives and providing oversight of vendors.
- Experience working with computer-aided design and analysis tools.
- Extensive experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change control processes.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Has broad knowledge of engineering practice in either a Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Mechatronics discipline, to facilitate the resolution of complex problems
- Has developed specialized knowledge and is recognized as an experienced engineer in one or more technical competencies and has achieved or is approaching the level of subject matter expert in one or more technical areas.
- Has very sound knowledge and understanding of relevant industrial applications and product lines.
- Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of highly complex technical products, processes, and systems.
- Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes and standards
- Contribute to solutions to the complex aspects of a project or process.
- Responsibilities typically include-
-Setting day-to-day operational objectives for individuals or small teams.
-Mentors, guides, and trains less experienced engineers
-Provides leadership by example to ensure policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by less experienced engineers.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Application of relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
- Excellent written and verbal English skills and comfortable leading teams, meetings, and giving presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and experience working effectively in a team environment.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications, and associated inspection techniques.
