Job Profile

The company is seeking a Process Engineer who will provide engineering support to the business unit for all aspects of Heat Treat related to the repair of engine components.

Works closely with operators to optimize furnace processes for engine components.

Works with operations and management on procurement of capital equipment.

Works with operations on the optimization of current machinery and processes.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Welding, Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or Industrial Engineering (college/university) or equivalent work experience

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum 3 years of experience with gas turbine engine component repair (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in various other aspects of overhaul maintenance including Braze, Chemical Cleaning, Shot Peen, Balancing, NDT, Thermal Spray, and Weld (preferred but not required)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison with internal and external customers, assuring satisfaction with progress and quality.
  • Analyzes, develops and recommends methods to meet production requirements, improve economy and quality, and reduce turn-around-times for products or processes with supporting cost analysis.
  • Develops proposals and cost estimates; estimates project needs including equipment, materials, and personnel; schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications; ensures facilities are in compliance with federal, municipal, and provincial electrical, fire, building, health, and safety codes.
  • Directs the planning, design, engineering, procurement, cost, scheduling, construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities of multiple major projects by coordinating efforts of various internal departments, project teams, and outside consulting resources.
  • Manages approved project timelines.
  • Manages relationships and is the liaison with equipment vendors on procurement of new equipment and improvements on existing equipment
  • Monitors all work in progress to ensure that quality and engineering standards are met and that designs are effective through the entire process; approves changes to designs or schedules as necessary. Produces periodic project status reports comparing actual to a forecasted timeline.
  • Organizes and provides input into engineering projects and required resources (staff and financial), according to department and project requirements.
  • Participates in projects as a team member or team project leader.
  • Prepares conceptual and detailed design of major engineering projects requiring mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural considerations. Prepares technical reports for internal use and for submission to local technical authorities including operation and preventative maintenance instructions for in-house designed systems.
  • Provides technical and financial data for preparation of project justification and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and approves contracts for work to be performed by consultants and outside contractors; monitors budgets, approves plans and designs, and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Works closely with operations on the development of repairs requiring heat treatment processes, as well as improvements to existing processes.
  • Works closely with vendors to develop and procure improved processes and equipment
  • Carries out special duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced and high-part volume environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engine manual repair instructions, inspection criteria, and part blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Furnace and oven manufacturers and the ability to support Capital equipment purchases
  • Knowledge of gas turbine engine maintenance, theory, and performance (preferred but not required)
  • Proficient with AMS2750, Pyrometry. Familiar with Calibration including Surveys, SATs, and TC wire
  • Strong background and knowledge of heat treatment processes, including Vacuum Furnaces, Local Stress Relief, and air ovens
  • Strong technical writing skills, interpersonal communication skills, and proficient computer skills are a must.
  • Working knowledge of precision measurement instruments and gauges.
  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident per ITAR regulations.
