Job Profile
The company is seeking a Product Engineer (Machining) who will maintain the dimensional aspect of castings through process control and improvement initiatives and assume direct responsibility for the integrity of assigned products.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution
Work Experience
- Previous internship, co-op experience, or previous work experience in a manufacturing environment or lab environment
Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining the dimensional integrity of products via continuous improvement activity, tool design and construction, and product development.
- Flow down customer requirements through shop instructions and interface with quality, manufacturing, sales, and production planning.
- Establish and maintain external and internal customer interaction to understand technical requirements and resolve issues; prepare part-specific work instructions, maintain knowledge of job cost, and develop/implement appropriate plans to improve profitability and reduce cost through process improvement activity and scrap reduction.
- Wax tooling, the position would be responsible for designing, modeling, specifying (materials, making drawings, etc.), getting quotes, etc. for fixturing such as heat treat mandrels, weld fixtures, MCO fixtures, welding braces, dipping fixtures, and others.
Credible Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Dimensional knowledge within a manufacturing environment
- PPAP and Six Sigma knowledge
- Previous work experience with modeling software such as CAD
- Previous work experience with Statistical Tools and Data Analysis
- Tooling experience/exposure
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to travel 30-40% to other Howmet facilities
- Apply analytical and critical thinking skills
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with customers, production employees, coworkers, and leaders
- Demonstrate previous experience in CNC machining – utilizing probe data information to balance cut paths in 5-axis CNC
- Display effective time management skills
- Exercise strong mechanical aptitude
- Exhibit attention to detail
- Present a desire to learn and a natural curiosity
- Produce dimensional submittals to customers based on structured light or CMM data versus customer model or blueprint
- Read Blueprints
- Troubleshoot various problems within manufacturing operations
- Utilize process improvement methodology
