Job Profile
The company is looking for a Quality Engineer who will work independently and is responsible for all Q.A.-related activities relative to the development of new and existing products.
Work with all departments on the development of new products in order to meet customer and TS-16949 requirements. This includes all quality-related aspects of PPAP, prototypes, and ongoing product development.
Flexibility and a willingness to travel on short notice is required.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should be Post-Secondary Graduates with a Degree/Diploma in Quality Engineering from a college/university
- Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or Equivalent work-related experience in the Quality field.
Work Experience
- Possess work-related experience (a plus)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Act as a champion/decision-maker for quality-related issues within the scope of responsibility
- Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA. Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed
- Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. TS16949, ISO14001)
- Complies with, supports, and models MEVS’s operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities
- Coordinate tasks/responsibilities to production personnel regarding Quality issues
- Evaluate dimensional issues and develop appropriate countermeasures on new programs in conjunction with the project coordinator or customer
- Implement new procedures and processes in prototype stages of product launches in compliance with customer-specific requirements
- Keeps work area clean and tidy
- Lead all program launch activities from the quality perspective
- Liaise between customers, Q.A., Engineering, Manufacturing, and subcontractors
- Maintain a thorough understanding of customer product and engineering specifications
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Review problem reports and responses with resolutions to ensure there will be no recurrence
- Train and mentor quality and production personnel as required (Customer requirements, etc.)
- Works with MEVS personnel on APQP and cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing components to meet critical customer deadlines
- Other duties as required
Key Qualifications
- Actively participates in the development and maintenance of PFMEAs
- Assist in TS-16949 and ISO14000 implementation and compliance
- Coordinate, prepare, and implement new program fixture build cost, timing, and quality, to meet customer and division standards
- Develop and maintain Q.A. Control Plan Package documentation and procedures both pre-launch and production
- Evaluate quality issues utilizing appropriate problem-solving techniques, CAD, statistics, and GD&T as required
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality while managing customer-sensitive documents and data that drive process and product changes
- Plan and prepare PPAP submissions on new products and engineering changes to meet customer deadlines and customer-specific requirements (PSO/SQMS and Run @ Rate)
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Advanced Knowledge in Quality systems development, QSB+, BIQS systems
- Advanced knowledge of CMM and Scan reporting structures and analysis.
- Advanced Knowledge of customer and ISO9001:2015 / IATF16949: 2016 requirements.
- At least 5 years in an automotive manufacturing environment with knowledge in welding and assembly processes.
- Basic stamping knowledge regarding B.I.W. components with an understanding of how built into the assembly.
- Computer and CAD proficiency is required.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem-solving techniques including Drill Deep, 8D, and 5 Phase.
- Demonstrated ability to use basic measurement tools (height gauge, vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, indicator, etc.)
- Experience managing suppliers and related supplier issues.
- Experience with destruct testing, measurement, and metrology methods of inspection.
- Knowledge of Automotive body structure/reinforcements for the purpose of crash safety.
- Knowledge of B.I.W. part to part builds up process.
- Knowledge of chassis system and function of each component.
- Prior experience implementing TS-16949 procedures, APQP, PPAP submissions, GD&T, Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, Control Plans, Statistics, Fixture Development, and independent work with tooling subcontractors
