Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Robotic Welder who will primarily be responsible for operating one or more weld machines to fabricate metal parts or assemblies to specifications.

The position will report to the Robotic Welding Manager.

Educational Qualification

  • No education level is mentioned, yet applicants may be required a High School Diploma

Work Experience

  • Previous knowledge of fixtures and weld setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test
  • Demonstrated competency in basic shop math
  • Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn the use of precision measurement tools

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machine factors, such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, type of gas, and type of weld rod.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Examines finished work pieces to verify conformance with specifications according to operator inspection sheets, quality control plans, or customer notes using instruments such as gauges.
  • Inspects and measures machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Lifts work-piece manually or using hoist and secure work piece in fixture or loads automatic feeding device.
  • Maintains accurate counts of parts; attaches labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity, and shop order information.
  • Maintains company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs all functions involved in the operation of the robotic welder, including programming, touch point, and operations corrections.
  • Performs basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
  • Reads job specifications (e.g., blueprints, quality control plans, or traveler notes) to determine the type of welding and material requirements.
  • Remove rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Unload welded frames from the robotic welder and place them on appropriate containers.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • May perform other related duties or work at different workstations as production needs require.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, welding symbols, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic understanding of computers and ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to the job.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
