Job Profile

The company is hiring a Senior Fabrication Machine Operator who will perform a variety of welding processes to produce precision parts and to construct Powell Canada products for Switchgear and PCR line-ups.

The position will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Fabrication department.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants require a High School Diploma
• Sheet metal worker trade certification (an asset)

Work Experience

• Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience working in metal fabrication (an asset)
• Safety certifications are an asset in this position.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist in inventory control.
• Assist Lead Persons with training and mentoring other employees.
• Determine the size and length requirements of each operation specified, within the given allowable tolerance.
• Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
• Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
• Grind and buff seams, joints, and rough surfaces.
• Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specifications.
• Measuring and marking sheet metal according to templates.
• Operate metalworking machines to cut punch, drill, and shape or straighten sheet metal.
• Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment and its tooling, as well as, small electric and air tools.
• Perform repairs on machinery.
• Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
• Select and transport material to different work areas manually or using machinery.
• Other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Basic skills Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Turret, Press Brake, Plasma, Laser, Beam copper, and other metalworking equipment is an asset.
