Job Profile
The company is hiring a Senior Fabrication Machine Operator who will perform a variety of welding processes to produce precision parts and to construct Powell Canada products for Switchgear and PCR line-ups.
The position will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Fabrication department.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants require a High School Diploma
- Sheet metal worker trade certification (an asset)
Work Experience
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience working in metal fabrication (an asset)
- Safety certifications are an asset in this position.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in inventory control.
- Assist Lead Persons with training and mentoring other employees.
- Determine the size and length requirements of each operation specified, within the given allowable tolerance.
- Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
- Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
- Grind and buff seams, joints, and rough surfaces.
- Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specifications.
- Measuring and marking sheet metal according to templates.
- Operate metalworking machines to cut punch, drill, and shape or straighten sheet metal.
- Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment and its tooling, as well as, small electric and air tools.
- Perform repairs on machinery.
- Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
- Select and transport material to different work areas manually or using machinery.
- Other duties as required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Basic skills Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Turret, Press Brake, Plasma, Laser, Beam copper, and other metalworking equipment is an asset.
