Job Profile
The company is seeking a Senior Tool/Die Maker who will repair, create and make tooling to match part drawings. The tooling requirements are developed by interpreting drawings, and engaging design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other tool makers to determine the best design for the tool.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants may be required a High School Diploma
- Certified Tow Motor Operator (preferred)
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program for tool and die or an equivalent number of years of education and production tooling experience.
Work Experience
- Possess at least 5 years of experience as a tool and die maker in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- CNC experience (desired)
- Must participate in company-sponsored training to maintain skill level as required.
- Authorized Lockout/Tagout training
Duties/Responsibilities
- Accurately complete required quality and production reports and records.
- Arrange schedules to meet customer needs.
- Assist in measuring team performance for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Work with team members, other business functions, customers, and suppliers to continually improve these measures
- Assist in the training of other associates in procedures and use of equipment.
- Build machine tools, indicate, and align to exacting tolerances to pass initial quality standards.
- Daily maintenance and cleaning of machines including lubrication. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials. Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operations, or unusual conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment. Proper use of machine guarding and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Participate in department improvement efforts.
- Perform bench and handwork such as filing, grinding, polishing, fitting, and adjusting to insure satisfactory performance; weld and solder as required.
- Perform intricate machining operations on vertical and horizontal milling and boring, grinding, lathe, CNC equipment, and other related equipment involving routine setups and adjustments to maintain close tolerances and fits.
- Performs duties of Tool and Die Maker.
- Performs duties to plan, layout, build, alter, automate, and repair a variety of jigs, fixtures, machine parts, cutting tools, gages, and similar devices.
- Repair and rebuild existing or acquired tooling, equipment, and other accessories; work with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems to assemble, fit and fasten as necessary.
- Select and lay out material; make necessary calculations and select allowances for shrinkage, machining, finishing, and fitting.
- Troubleshoot existing tooling and repair as required.
- Use a wide range of calipers, micrometers, verniers, comparators, and other precision measuring instruments to maintain close tolerances.
- Uses lift equipment as necessary to move and position stock and parts; uses care to safely lift and balance loads properly. Operates equipment in a safe manner.
- Visualize finished job; interpret plan and layout work in proper operational sequence.
- Work from work orders, complex drawings, sketches, and sample parts, written and verbal instructions.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Language Skills –Ability to read and write in English, analyze, and interpret manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, other specifications and specifications and guidelines from relevant regulatory agencies. Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from members of production operations and the management team. Must be able to communicate well with others, including top management.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers into all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to recognize amounts and compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to work with certain mathematical concepts and perform calculations. Ability to read production sheets, and graphs and understand their practical application. Ability to utilize and apply data collection and analysis techniques.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply basic reasoning skills to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to detect and identify typical defects found in materials. Ability to troubleshoot problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and use various inspection equipment applications and precision tools and understand and apply basic inspection and sound measurement practices.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts
