The company is looking for a Senior Welding Inspector to join its team.

Education Level

  • 5 years of formal education in experience/combined education, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized training in specific aspects of job functions or demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks

Work Experience

  • Experience working successfully in a team environment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs all types of weld inspection and limited dimensional inspection on fabricated parts, assemblies, and purchased parts.
  • Performs in-process inspection, final, and routine first pieces on fabricated, subcontracted, or purchased parts.
  • Inspects for proper identification and dimensions using basic measuring equipment and instruments, including proficient personal computing literacy.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of shop math and blueprint reading and interpretation including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of math and blueprint readings/interpretation.
  • Will be required to maintain and conduct all welding MI re-certifications including attaining weld certifications for: Mig/Tig Low Carbon Steel, Tig Aluminum, GTAW high allow stainless steel, Tig low carbon steel & stainless.
  • Must be familiar with and capable of learning the use of all measuring instruments, tools, and gages required to perform various weld inspections.
  • May monitor and verify quality following statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • May be required to perform Tool and Gage calibration.
  • May be required to train or assist in training new personnel in all types of inspection.
  • May be required to maintain communication with outside vendors for specific tasks.
  • Must be familiar with AS9102 First Article Process and documenting results.
  • Must be familiar with and capable of learning/performing Special Process Evaluations.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the correct procedures to follow and precautions to take when performing their work to prevent damage to equipment or material and injury to self or others.
  • Must be able to properly document neatly and legibly all types of errors or discrepancies found.
  • May be required to participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Maintains records of results.
  • Must maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Physical condition allowing-
  • Lifting 50 pounds
  • Standing, sitting, bending, walking, 10+ hours per day
  • Personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and wearing a respirator when required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to use basic measuring devices such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers x
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, with both internal and external customers
  • Familiar with AS9102 First Article Process and documenting results
  • Familiar with AWS standards and associated manufacturing standards
  • Knowledge of MIL standards
  • Maintain and conduct all welding MI re-certifications including attaining weld certification for areas listed in the job description
  • Must be able to demonstrate good training skills and effectively apply them to peers
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to pass visual acuity and color perception exam
  • Must be able to read blueprint, work instructions and interpret engineering drawing requirements
  • Must be able to support a flexible work schedule supporting overtime, off-Fridays, weekends, or alternate shifts to support product schedules as required
  • Proficient computing literacy
  • Proficient Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • US Citizen

Desired Skills-

  • Demonstrated computer skills areas of LM tools including SAP, Apriso, Command Media, PAL, and Windchill
  • Experience working in various fabrication areas or previous inspection experience
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000/AS9100
  • Navigating SAP/Apriso in areas concerning confirmations, reviewing characteristics, and Nonconformances
  • Technical writing for documenting issues on rejection paperwork
