The company is searching for a Shop Welder to join its shop.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)

Work Experience

  • Experience with a variety of SMAW and FCAW welding electrodes.
  • Forklift experience (preferred but not required)

License/Certification

  • Must be able to pass a weld certification according to Komatsu Quality standards. (Dual shield II wire; vertical/horizontal weld)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assess equipment repair needs and develop repair processes.
  • Equipment component rebuilds, e.g., gearbox rebuilds.
  • Lay out and perform complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Moderate, physical demand, continuous lifting or moving light-weight to moderate-weight materials, and working in difficult positions.
  • Perform a variety of welding and cutting applications (including air arcing).
  • The primary focus is on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Proficient at Carbon Arc Gouging
  • Proficient with Oxy/Fuel Torch
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform minor repairs to most assigned tooling, wire feeders, and welding machines.
  • Use of Laser Aligner, Micrometer, Caliper, and Bore Gauges with minimal supervision.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and update reports, forms, records, and comparable methods of data collection/communication tools.
  • Ability to understand weld symbols.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Boretech and rotator experience.
  • Crane/rigging experience is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient at print reading, fitting, and layout.

Work Environment

  • The environment is usually more controlled than in fieldwork
  • Exposed to heat, noise, and welding fumes
  • Requires the use of safety equipment like helmets and gloves
  • Tasks may be repetitive, but they allow for a steady workflow
  • Works indoors in a fabrication or repair shop
