The company is searching for a Special Inspector to join its team.

Education Level

  • Not mentioned, yet a High School Diploma will be a plus

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of Construction Materials Testing or other construction-related experience
  • At least 1+ year(s) of relevant experience performing special inspections on at least one type of construction material (such as soils, masonry, concrete, structural steel)
  • Must be certified in, minimum, one ICC Certification (ICC Masonry, ICC Reinforced Concrete) and willing to obtain other certifications as soon as possible

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicate field observations and test results; promptly notify supervisor, project manager(s), and dispatcher of problems or changes that arise on the project; prioritize calls from supervisor, project manager(s), or dispatch
  • Communicate with managers, show commitment as a team player, organize work, manage time effectively, and adhere to established safety procedures
  • Completes tasks and submits completed paperwork within the appropriate time frame
  • Drives to project locations; Consistently shows up for work as scheduled
  • Inspection assignments involve primarily non-residential buildings and focus on structural masonry, reinforced concrete, pre/post-tension concrete, structural steel and welding, fireproofing; testing, quality control, administration, and technical review
  • Monitors construction work in progress to determine whether work is being performed to specification and is in compliance with approved plans, codes, and related requirements
  • Perform structural observations and write detailed reports summarizing observations
  • Works in a field setting close to construction activity and heavy construction equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI Field Grade I certification, ATTI Field certification is a plus
  • HIGHLY Preferred – ICC High Strength Bolting, ICC Welding, ICC Structural Steel, and ICC Masonry

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Basic math skills (simple algebra)
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, co-workers, clients, contractors, and agencies
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Verbal – Must be able to receive and follow through on instructions; maintains lines of communication, and communicates effectively, with supervisor, co-workers, clients, and contractors
  • Written – Handwriting must be legible; must be able to compose correspondence and prepare required reports, completely and accurately
