Job Profile
The company is looking to hire a State Tax Manager who will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of complex US state and local tax returns, reviewing US state and local tax returns and assisting in managing state audits for Trane Technologies.
Additionally, assist with managing Trane’s state income tax accounting and state effective tax rate.
Also, interact with other areas of tax (Research & Planning, Federal Tax Projects) as well as the State Tax group to assist with Trane’s tax minimization efforts.
The position will report to Senior State Tax Manager.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants require a Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance (college/university)
- MS in Taxation (preferred)
Work Experience
- Possess 7+ years of state and local compliance work experience
- Experience with Corptax and TaxStream
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in technical tax accounting (domestic) support
- Assist in the improvement of tax accounting and compliance processes and reporting systems and related internal controls
- Assist with management of state and local income/franchise tax audits- responding to IDRs put forth by the taxing jurisdictions
- Assist with the management of state income tax accounting including quarterly and year-end provisions and the state effective tax rate
- Assure tax work papers and documentation adequately support future state tax audits and support SOX 404 requirements
- Manage state income tax apportionment collection and reconciliation
- Prepare/review state income/franchise tax returns (separate, combined, and unitary)
- Responsible for research and analysis of various state and local tax issues
- Responsible for supervision of maintaining accurate monthly state cash forecasting
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to interact independently with peers and management, possess excellent communication and analytical skills, work under deadlines and multitask.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 (FAS109) and related pronouncements (FIN 48, etc.)
