Job Profile

The company is seeking a Structural Engineer who will work collaboratively with the Fabrication Shop.

Education Level

Work Experience

  • 4 years of experience in structural with familiarity with wood, steel, masonry, and concrete buildings, including structural calculation, foundation design, detailing, and construction administration

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with company operations to understand the complete application and needs
  • Coordinate activities relative to the development of new equipment
  • Design structures and foundations for sawmill, kiln, cogeneration, and planer mill equipment and buildings
  • Develop and improve lumber processing equipment
  • Effectively model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software
  • Facilitate the smooth and quick approval of plans
  • Learn and take on engineering projects with a mechanical emphasis when structural emphasis is not needed
  • Prepare plans, drawings, and calculations that will be submitted to the county, city, or other governing bodies
  • Provide leadership and direction to fabricators, assemblers, machinists, and shop personnel
  • Work to learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment continuously

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • California P.E. or S.E. license with the ability to get reciprocity in Oregon and Washington
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute creative solutions and succeed in an innovative environment
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and willingness to learn SolidWorks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of the structural provisions of the California Building Code, IBC, and ASCE 7
  • Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of structural steel, welding, and foundation design

  • Wears safety gear when on-site
  • Works in offices and on construction sites
