Job Profile

The company is looking for a Structural/Outfitting Designer who can perform duties as an outfitting designer and checker.

Must have prior shipyard experience that is fluent in AutoCAD and Ship Constructor.

Required to have previous design experience and have an understanding of the marine industry.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree in a related field (college/university) or additional 5 years of experience

Work Experience

  • Possess 10 years of experience in shipbuilding (detailed design)
  • 2 years of Navisworks experience
  • 5 years of AutoCAD experience
  • 3D AutoCAD or Ship Constructor experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Check production Packages by traditional Red-Line and Back-fix methods.
  • Design/Check hull structure, foundations, inclined and vertical ladders, doors, windows, hatches, and handrails.
  • Ensure all details are based on Good Shipbuilding Practices.
  • Ensure all required BOMs and Reports are included and accurate.
  • Ensure Production Packages match functional Design.
  • Ensure that all information suits shipyard and fabrication methods and tools.
  • Make decisions with minimum oversight.
  • Material Take Offs (MTOs).
  • Mentor less experienced engineering personnel.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of ABS and USCG Rules and Regulations
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, kneel, squat, walk, sit, or stoop. Full range of motion.
  • Ability to work outside, if necessary, with exposure to outside elements, e.g. heat or cold.
  • Able to lift tools up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces as small as 15”x23”.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must have correctable vision to 20/40.
  • Must Pass a pulmonary function exam for positions requiring respiratory protection.
  • Must Pass the Ishihara test for color blindness.

Work Demands

  • Must report all accidents and injuries to supervisors and the Environmental Safety and Health Department.
  • Need to work at a pace consistent with meeting company deadlines.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g. hard hat, face shield, safety goggles, steel toe safety shoes, and respirator as determined by a Senesco Marine Job Hazard analysis.
