The company is searching for a Sub Arc Welder to join its team.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited trade school for welding

Work Experience

  • 1 year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • 1 year of prior experience welding in a professional environment

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Fuse (weld) metal structural components together using multiple forms of Submerged Arc Welding processes in the fabrication of steel electrical poles and other structures
  • Move pole shafts using an overhead crane and gather parts and materials to complete the project
  • Perform repetitive types of assembling operations according to procedures established by others, and use hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of work
  • Perform welding operations requiring most of the following: planning and layout, working from blueprints and drawings or other specifications; requires knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals; setting up work and determining operation sequences; welding objects involving critical safety and load requirements; working in a variety of positions
  • Other duties as required or assigned

Important Roles-

  • Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment
  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors that conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing products or setting up the machinery
  • Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets correctly and without assistance
  • Setup, operate and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor
  • Work under conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits

  • Knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test
  • The ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with the most frequent lift of up to 20 pounds
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints or shop drawings
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to set up work and determine operation sequence
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
  • Working knowledge of fixturing and weld setup parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
