Job Profile
The company is seeking a Test Lab Welding Technician who will work within the Testing and Analysis Engineering group supporting thermal-hydraulic analysis and testing projects, with a focus on the eVinci microreactor test program.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a college or university
Work Experience
- Possess prior experience working in a lab/testing environment
- Experience operating manual mills and lathes
- Experience with basic wiring
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation (i.e., pressure, flow, temperature)
- Experienced welder using various processes and materials in all positions – SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, brazing
- Preferred pressure, temperature, and fluid flow instrumentation experience
- Crane and rigging operational experience
- Hands-on fabrication experience
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct custom welding and machining operations.
- Support hands-on development of test fixtures and test equipment and maintain responsibility for laboratory equipment (inventory, maintenance, operation).
- Support of troubleshooting test equipment
- Coordinate with other sites personnel on equipment delivery and setup
- Order tooling and laboratory supplies as needed
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and test equipment.
- Hands-on installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment controls.
- Participate in daily meetings to review work tasks with engineering and project management teams on the design and assembly of the first-of-a-kind test setup.
- Prepare detailed sketches, 3D models, and drawings using Auto Cad, Inventor, or Solidworks.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and process flow diagrams
- Effective communication, teaming, and team-building skills
- Familiar with constructing piping assemblies using Swagelok and pipe fittings
- Familiar with the safe handling of bottled gasses
- Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Good judgment and the ability to prioritize a number of diverse tasks
- Highly motivated, self-starter
- Mechanical problem-solving skills
- Orientation towards achieving Customer Success
- Preferred working knowledge of ASME Section VIII BPVC code
- Strong organizational, and planning skills and attention to detail
