Job Profile
The company is seeking a Test Technician who will assist with the configuration, fabrication, and implementation of tests and design evaluations at the Canton R&D facility for both new and existing products.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a minimum High School Diploma (required)
- 2-year or 4-year Technical Degree (a plus)
Work Experience
- Experience with electronics (preferred)
- Prototype building experience (a plus)
- Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics
Duties/Responsibilities
- Become proficient in inspection techniques used for monitoring tests while they are running – 5%
- Become proficient in the operation of all equipment used for the manufacture of prototypes at R&D – 5%
- Become proficient in the test setup of the various suspension configurations and understand the hydraulic systems used to run the tests – 10%
- Fabricate test fixtures and provide welding and assembly expertise – 5%
- Inspect and record observations of specimen performance during the testing process – 15%
- Occasional travel required – less than 10%
- Perform and oversee controlled test sequences – 40%
- Perform preventive maintenance on test equipment and fixtures – 15%
- Understand the basic control systems and test procedures used to operate the servo-hydraulic equipment – 5%
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- A strong background in maintenance (preferred)
- Ability to operate a Tow Motor and basic Machining Equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to weld and pass Hendrickson’s 2F Pulse Welding Test (a plus)
- Computer literate
- Demonstrate the ability to follow work instructions for assembly utilizing hand tools
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands
- Ability to drive a powered industrial truck to position test fixtures and test samples
- Ability to lift and maneuver up to 25 lbs. with occasional twisting, reaching, and out-of-position body placement
- Ability to maneuver and guide objects heavier than 25 lbs. with assistance from a crane, hoist, or other lifting devices
- Ability to perform all required job tasks in a heated/non-air-conditioned test laboratory – refreshments provided during hot seasons, and regular “breather” breaks are encouraged in the air-conditioned test technician office area
- Ability to physically work on the underside of a Class 8 trailer – use of a roll-around stool, knee pads, or creeper is encouraged. Ability to use precision tools with fine dexterity to affix sensors to test samples – may require out-of-position body placement
- Ability to remain seated at a computer workstation for data entry, up to a couple of hours at a time – brief stretching breaks are encouraged to reduce muscle stiffness and eye fatigue
- Must be able to wear all required PPE – safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection when required
