Job Profile

The company is seeking a Tool and Die Maker II who will build, repair, and maintain dies, fixtures, and all other tooling related to the manufacture and assembly of stamped, roll-formed, and welded steel automobile components.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants may be required a High School Diploma
  • Crane Certification (required)

Work Experience

  • Possess a minimum of 6 years of experience (including apprenticeship)
  • Tool and Die Maker experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 and ISO14001 documented systems; authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance, or Engineering department representative.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement and emergency repair projects individually or within a team
  • Assess complex tooling and equipment needs and refurbish as required
  • Assure safe operation and care of tool room equipment
  • Housekeeping and other activities as assigned
  • Must be willing to share knowledge of the trade and train apprentices
  • Produce quality work in a timely manner
  • Set up and operate all tool room equipment with no assistance (with exception of CNC equipment)
  • Support production department with tooling needs; respond to shop-floor calls in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and solve tooling problems without the assistance
  • Work on blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to repair and maintain stamping dies and assembly tooling
  • Work to continuously improve tooling and reduce scrap

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to operate all standard tool room equipment
  • Ability to read tool and die designs and prints
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to train and develop apprentices
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Basic shop math and trigonometry
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must observe all safety regulations to ensure their own and others’ safety
  • Must be able to work without supervision and lead small teams as may be required on large and complex projects
  • Ability to communicate well with others
