Job Profile

The company is recruiting a Tool and Die Maker who will analyze specifications to make or repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges by utilizing manual and CNC machine tools.

Visualize and apply knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and assembly procedures to perform duties.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma (credible)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker or Machinist in the metal fabrication industry
  • Experience with applying quality control analysis
  • Experience with Wire EDM

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Computes dimensions and plans layouts to determine assembly and sequence of operations.
  • Coordinates activities with Engineering and Production to refine tooling and production processes for continuous improvement.
  • Designs basic stamping dies, as well as fixtures, jigs, or gauges to aid in the fabrication or assembly of parts.
  • Ensures that the work area is clean and orderly, including machines, tooling, and workstations.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies to provide conformance to product needs.
  • Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
  • Sets up and operates manual or CNC machine tools, including lathes, wire EDM, milling machines, and grinders to machine parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes, and verifies conformance to specifications.
  • Sets up, runs, and tests stamping dies to ensure product meets specifications and to identify any issues to correct them.
  • Works from specifications, such as CAD drawings, prints, sketches, models, descriptions, or CAM software to determine the best choice of materials and equipment for the fabrication of parts.
  • Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to read prints with strong shop mathematics
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet schedule deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to visualize structural components
  • Working knowledge of Mastercam and SolidWorks

Work Environment

  • Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility.
  • Active work that primarily involves walking, standing, bending, and lifting.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate with others and accommodation as required
  • Accommodation as required for reading documents, prints, computer screens, machine dials, and inspection instruments
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 25 pounds of force frequently
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms
