Job Profile

The company is hiring a Tool Room Person who will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair dies, die components, and tooling used in the production process.

Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, and sets up and operates machine tools to make and repair dies.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Journeyman or completed apprenticeship (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of verifiable tool and die experience or equivalent
  • Mastercam and SolidWorks experience (preferred)
  • Must have an intermediate level of machining and metalworking experience

License/Certification

  • Must be able to pass the Hi-Lo certification process

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding the construction and function of the part.
  • fabricate parts.
  • Follow all safety precautions and company policies to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Heat treats tools or parts.
  • Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on the surface plate or worktable.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to
  • Smooths flat and contoured surfaces using power grinders and fits and assembles parts into assemblies and mechanisms.
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes the product to determine the materials required and the machines to be used to
  • Troubleshoot tooling analysis and resolve problems to obtain the quality level of parts.
  • Utilize calipers, micrometers, gauge pins and blocks, and various other types of measurement equipment.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Must be able to acquire an Overhead Crane Operators license
  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions.
  • Strong mechanical and shop math aptitude (preferred).
