Job Profile

The company is searching for a Weld Destructive Test Technician who will use hand tools such as, but not limited to, air chisel, chop saw, plasma cutters, grinders, hammer drill, pry-bar, and bench vice to perform destructive or nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.

Use of visual aids and computer programs.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma (credible)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Work Experience

  • Possess work-related experience (a plus)

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Completes appropriate paperwork to inform Weld Technicians of part failure for equipment repair or service.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork, records data, and turns completed paperwork into the Supervisor
  • Conducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility space.
  • Enters data into graphs and charts that are given by the engineering department
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Inspects materials, parts, or products for conformance to specifications and contacts the Supervisor to discuss non-conformances.
  • Observes and complies with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements associated with this job description.
  • Operates cutters, grinders, and press equipment to break welds. Along with the use of nitric acid, to conduct acid and measurement tests with a lecoscope
  • Participates in needs analysis and attends and performs the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs identified for this position.
  • Participates in preventative actions where appropriate. Conducts corrective actions and performs problem-solving analysis and reporting as required.
  • Participates, as requested, in independent objective auditing activities and supports the company’s continuous improvement activities.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within the limits of equipment capability.
  • Supports productions on the processes that are appropriate and contain suspect or defective material or services to avoid further processing.
  • Understands and can explain the company’s Quality Policy.
  • Understands and explains all relevant quality policies, procedures, and work instructions associated with this job description.
  • Understands and can identify Quality Management System and implementation non-conformances and document or log all non-conformities.
  • Understands job description and required tasks. Able to explain how this position impacts customer satisfaction and contributes to fulfilling the Quality Policy.
  • Understands the overview of the Quality Management System and document architecture.

  • Read and interpret weld blueprints
  • Record and analyze test results

Work Environment

  • Uses hand tools such as a cutter, a pry-bar, and a bench vice to perform destructive or nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Uses power tools such as an air hammer, chop saw, plasma cutter, and hand grinder.
  • Uses measurement tools such as, but not limited to, calipers and micrometers to ensure adequate welds of parts or products.
