Job Profile
The company is searching for a Weld Inspector who will oversee subcontractors’ work performance to ensure it follows the defined quality specification. (monitor and maintain the project quality control objectives)
Education Level
- Not mentioned, a High School Diploma (a plus)
Work Experience
- 5+ years as an Industrial Welder within a manufacturing environment, and willing to train to be an inspector, highly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with exotic metal welding (a plus)
License/Certification
- CWIs – highly encouraged to apply, but not required
- Weld inspector per AWS B5.1, under BPVC Section IX
Duties/Responsibilities
- Develops and analyzes statistical data
- Establish the quality and reliability expectancy of the finished product
- Formulates and maintains quality control objectives
- Make a commendation on field issues
- May investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality
- Provide daily project progress assessments
- Source inspections – materials
- Support the client’s RFI process
- Support the subcontractors on any training issues
- Ability to inspect glue-bonded joints on PVC and CPVC systems
- Ability to inspect welds on PVDF, PP, PE, PVC, CPVC, SS Orbital
- Ability to liaise with the customer and contractors and perform conference calls
- Computer literate with Excel and Word, and comfortable with using the customer portals to find specs and drawings associated with the project
- General knowledge of Duct Installations – Torque values, spark tests, installation procedures
- Read, understand, and apply written specifications to the installations
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Effective reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of welding processes, materials, and safety standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting welding codes, blueprints, and specifications.
- Skilled in visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and defect identification.
Work Environment
- Exposure to loud noise, heat, and welding fumes in industrial environments.
- Frequent standing, bending, and climbing in confined or elevated spaces.
- Irregular hours, including nights, weekends, or shift work, may be required.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- Work may occur indoors or outdoors, in all weather conditions.
