Job Profile
The company (Weil-McLain) is hiring a Welder who will perform welding operations, including MIG and TIG, and Spot/Resistance Welding.

- Welding certification or equivalent (preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Interpret the Blueprint and set up equipment so that quality components to specification are produced with minimal input from others.
- Perform First Piece inspection as needed.
- Perform functions necessary as prescribed by the Work Order and Blueprint.
- Perform post-weld grinding operations, so as to achieve a quality straight line finish, so that final painted parts will pass Quality Inspections.
- Perform welding of seams, joints, and fill openings in panels; fitting pieces to assure proper alignment.
- Set up and adjust MIG, TIG, or Spot-Welding equipment, and troubleshoot poor quality welds.
- Set up Weld Jigs as available. If not available, be able to fix parts with miscellaneous holding techniques in order to produce a part within specification.
- Work on other Fabrication and paint equipment as needed.
- Welds all types of materials.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to perform moderate PM procedures.
- Able to understand production planning requirements.
- Blueprint reading and mechanical abilities.
- Must be able to and have experience in the setup and operation of MIG, TIG, and Spot/Resistance welders.
- Must be able to read calipers and other metrology equipment.
- Must be able to see flaws in welds or structural imperfections in the metal.
- Must be able to set up weld jigs and use various clamping methods to produce prototypes.
- Must be able to weld Cold Rolled Steel, Stainless Steel, Galvanized, and Aluminized Steel products with the appropriate welding process.
- Must have an excellent attendance record.
- Some computer knowledge.
- Ability to safely and efficiently set up and operate MIG, TIG, and spot-welding equipment
- Strong math skills (decimals, fractions, use of calculator).
- Welders can expect long hours on their feet, often in hot conditions.
