Job Profile

The company is searching for a Welder/Fabricator (AFC) to join its team.

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should have a High School Diploma/GED (preferred); additional preference is given to EB Apprentice programs

Work Experience

• Possess EB AFC experience
• Experience in manual or semi-automatic welding processes
• Ship fitting/metal fabrication experience

Duties/Responsibilities

• Fabricate frames/cylinders to produce the pressure hull that is ready for outfitting functions; through the use of our variety of hydraulic fixtures
• Be capable of following work packages, fixture set up sheets, drawings, ERs, and SSPs in order to produce a quality product.
• Must be able to pass semi-automatic and mechanized spray and pulse arc tests (GMAPLS, GMASPS & GMASPM) prior to being granted a position within the AFC

Required Qualifications

• Basic math skills
• Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
• Must be able to operate impact guns and high-torque machinery
• Must be able to pass a destructive bend weld test, a semi-automatic, and mechanized spray, and a pulse test, and meet minimum visual acceptance requirements
• Must be able to read and interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural drawings, technical manuals, test documents, and diagrams
• Must be available to work all shifts
• Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperature conditions as required
• Some lifting and overhead welding will be required
• Welding experience

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Applicants will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment, meet organizational goals, and follow all verbal and written instructions as directed
• Must possess communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Climbing, color vision, crawling, kneeling, light lifting, medium lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting

Work Environment

• Acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, inside, noise, oily, outside, wet
