Job Profile

The company is searching for a Welder/Laser Operator II who will be responsible for welding multiple alloys using the TIG welding process and assisting in the manufacture, assembly, and testing of various spaceflight systems.

Education Level

  • High School Diploma (credible)

Work Experience

  • Experience with DC- and AC-TIG welding of aerospace stainless steels and aluminum, Inconel alloys
  • Crane Operator/Lift Coordinator Experience
  • Machining experience
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight-critical hardware
  • Orbital welding experience or knowledge

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ability to work off-shifts
  • CNC system programming, both at the machine control and with offline software, to include multi-axis programming.
  • Communicate with engineers on design concepts, offering suggestions for improvements to the design.
  • Design support and fabrication of tooling for welding and assembly
  • Perform Strip Welding and Installation on Flight Hardware
  • Review, edit, and follow Work Instructions for welding and assembly work
  • Safely work within an industrial environment
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot laser equipment.
  • Support/prepare parts for post-weld inspection processes such as dye penetrant, X-ray, and chemical treatments
  • TIG welding aerospace stainless steel and inconel hardware, using manual or automatic equipment
  • Weld preparation, including cutting, blending, chamfering, and cleaning parts
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to use precision hand tools, standard mechanical tools, and fabrication shop equipment, also develop fixtures/tooling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to document and maintain accurate records
  • Familiar with the use of personal computers
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety
  • Knowledge of drawing review, scheduling, and work order systems, inventory, and various issue tracking systems
  • Knowledgeable in the use of 3-D CAD tools (CREO is preferred), and the ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
