Job Profile
The company is hiring a Weld Engineer who will program and troubleshoot robotic welding equipment and provide training for operators in addition to assisting in APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning) for new products.
Be responsible for quality and conformance of product to customer specifications per control plan utilizing TS16949 & ISO14001 documented systems; authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance, or Engineering department representative.
Educational Qualification
- Applicants should have a 4-year Degree in Weld Engineering Technology or documented equivalent combination of education and work-related experience required.
Work Experience
- Possess 6 to 8 years of work-related experience – resistance and MIG welding and repair; mechanical and electrical fabrication and repair; robotic welder programming and troubleshooting
Technical Education
- Basic and advanced electrical knowledge including the ability to read schematics
- Blueprint reading
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) preferred
- Good mathematical knowledge including trigonometry
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Knowledge of weld processes, both MIG and resistance spot welding
- Programming of robotic welders and repairs to the same
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist Program Engineers at the development stage during new product development
- Develop and implement Continuous Improvement suggestions
- Maximize production efficiency by reducing equipment downtime
- Plan, organize, and maintain equipment and processed data
- Program and troubleshoot robotic welders and ancillary equipment
- Provide operator instruction and training
- Serve as Volkswagen Product Safety Representative (PSB is the customer designation)
- Housekeeping and other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Ability to move throughout the plant
- Extended sitting and standing; reaching and bending.
- Loud work environment; compliance with personal protective equipment as required
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. may be required

- Computers to program weld sequences
- Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
