Job Profile

The company is seeking a Welding Engineer who will be responsible for automated and robotic weld process development and implementation.

Also, support the needs of manufacturing by reviewing new product plans and making recommendations for welding solutions based on various project criteria.

In addition, plan and evaluate new projects via consultations with other engineers, project planners, and managers as needed.

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering or Material Science with a major in Welding Engineering or Welding Technology (college/university)

Work Experience

  • Possess 7 or more years of experience in a welding manufacturing environment
  • CAD experience
  • Detailed understanding/experience with multiple welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, Laser, Resistance, Projection, Inertia)
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Experience in programming robot welders and associated welding equipment
  • Experience in writing proper WPS as per standards
  • The capability of designing/specifying equipment needed for weld cells and the surrounding work environment
  • Understanding of the methods to verify/validate weld integrity through related weld standards

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Communicate the status of equipment/processes during the development cycle
  • Define and develop welding processes for new product
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications.
  • Monitor and control work progress, ensuring sound application of engineering principles and the appropriate use of policies and procedures.
  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and documented by new product development procedures.
  • Provide innovative welding solutions in support of manufacturing and equipment design
  • Review and approval of validation documentation.
  • Support or lead (depending on experience) welding-related capital acquisitions from specifying equipment, contract negotiations, installation, and validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of related experience
  • Applicant should be proficient with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D CAD software as well as Microsoft Office and Project
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment with various manufacturing operations
  • FANUC ArcTOOL Operations and Programming Experience/Certification
  • Fronius GMAW PSU experience
  • Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization, suppliers, and vendors
  • RoboGuide Weld PRO Experience/Certification
  • Welding robot programming experience

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to estimate capital equipment costs, equipment/tooling lead times, and processing times for projects
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and understand GD&T
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills – able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
